Insignificance
Our solar system is seventy quadrillion miles long . . . the earth is over twenty four thousand miles in circumference at the equator . . . the length of the United States is over three thousand miles . . . the state of Colorado’s length is almost four hundred miles long . . . the average human being is five feet nine inches tall. When put in this perspective one, human being is physically insignificant. This series is about individual people, and how we fight to feel significant among the six and a half billion others of our own kind.
Staging, posing, and the figure’s relationship to the environment itself help me bring my message to life and play heavily on my image construction. The images are meant to alter the reality of the viewer, giving them the perspective of the subject. This is done by placing the figure in a mundane environment showcasing the insignificance of a human beings place in the world.
